I am trying to attach a field with the "attachment" data type into a designed database. I open the table in design and data view at attempted to add a field, using the "attachment" choice. I keep getting the above error message. Any one know why?

You're doing this manually, not by code? Which version of Access are you using?

your access may not be new enough to add this type.
