I donot have much information at this time, but siiting in an Oracle fusion meeting, the Oracle reps mentioned they have a product to compete with MSAccess. Of course it runs on Oracle instead. They said Oracle had to come with a competing product because to many Access databases turn into Sql Server databases.
That is about all the info. I have right now on this. Thought it an interesting subject however.

ORACLE has had a product in this niche for a long time but haven't sold it because the ODBC license costs too much. Or at least that's what my folks over here have said. And ORACLE is noted for sticking you with fees after fees on top of fees. So there is a certain reluctance to upgrade smaller stuff to ORACLE when SQL Server is viable and otherwise meets requirements.

Having said that, there is nothing technically wrong with the product as far as my fellow sys admins have told me. Doesn't mean its perfect, but it isn't the source of lots of grumbling. (I know, "condemnation by faint praise....")

Humm, according to what I heard, they were leading us to beleive it is a new product, either just recently released, or soon to be released. But it was not stated in such definable terms as that.

I'll bet THIS is it. Look at the attached to see what you think, or follow that link for the whole thing.
