ORDERBY Surname then Forename Help!

I have just created a report with a Group header on FullName which I have taken from a query FullName:[Forename]&" "&[Surname] However I want the report to sort by Surname then Forename, which I have done in the query.

But because I have used FullName as a group header it is sorting that ascending and making it ascending by forename.. Is there any way round this?

I have duplicate surnames which is why I cant group by surname..

I think I must be missing something here. Why do you want to group on Fullname if you want then to sort the names? It doesn't make sense to me.

I'm envisioning your report output to be like this:

Group: Amy Wilson
Group: Dave Smith
Group: Ed Jones
Group: Steve Davis

What elements of each group would be left to sort here? If each group is a person, what's left in the report detail section? Sub-people?

If you mean that you want the Groups to be sorted by Last name, then that makes sense. Your output would then be:
Group: Steve Davis
Group: Ed Jones
Group: Dave Smith
Group: Amy Wilson

Is that what you want?

Sometimes I am so stupid I suprise myself.. why is it that it is the really obvious things that become the biggest of obstacles??

Thanks for all your help my report is now looking glorious and in Alphabetical order as well!
