Parameters for report and subreport

I am building a report and and subreport which are based off two similar queries. (The second query calculates totals for the fields in the first query.) The parameters for these queries are the same. How can I make the query for the subreport utilize the parameters that have been entered for the main report's query, without re-entering anything.

Use a form to enter the parameters, reference the form in the underlying queries, just keep the form open while the report is open
