hi
i m making contact database. in which table got fields like fullname, phno., email, categories, etc.
i making a search form so that i can find this by name or category. i ve two boxes fullname & categories. i want to use both or any one. in my fullname box
i want to type initial words of my fullname and i want everything on list which should start from these word. ex. smith jonh so type sm it should give me names starting from sm and not names containing s & m in it.

really thankful for ur help but as i said i m new to access and i don't know @ vb also so i just want simple coding in access only. so that i can understand use it for further use. if u want i can send my simple database to so u can suggest.
i don't want real time search which u suggested. i just want to create a form with name & categories so anyone field i can use for search and press find button and it should run query n report associated with it.
