Password

Now I really am scared. I have posted this message twice with people viewing it, but no replies yet! YIKES!!

I think I have inadvertantly locked myself out of Access 97 while trying to work on protecting it from certain users. It now asks me for a password when I try to open Access.

How can I fix this without the password, do I need to delete Access 97 from my computer and re-load it altogether? Or do I need to get into a certain file and change the code?

Please please please help!

Have you tried renaming your System.MDW file and getting a Fresh System.MDW file from another machine with Access 97.

If you made a copy of the MDW file and that is what you are connected to then you need to use the Work Group Administrator to connect you back to your System.MDW file.


Just as a 20/20 hindsight "you should never make changes to the System.MDW, you should always copy it giving it a different name and do your work on the copy."

Hi,

This is easy. You simply open the database in "Exclusive" mode from the File-Open menu. You will then be prompted to enter your password and then you can either enter a new one or simply leave it balnk.
