Phone input mask

I have a workable code

Select Case Me![country]
    Case "USA"
        Me!phone.InputMask = "!\(999) 000\-0000;0;#"
    Case "US"
        Me.phone.InputMask = "!\(999) 000\-0000;0;#"
    Case "CA"
        Me.phone.InputMask = "!\(999) 000\-0000;0;#"
    Case Else
            Me!phone.InputMask = ""

However I'm having trouble finding the right place to put it.

when the form opens I would like the phone number to change to the inputmask above.

I tried on the form's on activate event, the form's on open event, on the phone's got focus event. None worked.
I think the code is right cause with the got focus if I clicked on the field it changed correctly.

Where does this need to go?
