Is there some way to have a Picture property of a linked .jpg on a form
reference a URL instead of a spot on the hard drive?

I'll ultimately want to change the URL in my code depending on which pic to
show, but I'd like to get a hard coded example working first.

Using Access 2003.

thanks,
James

Yes. Use the internet explorer control. That is: Microsoft Web Browser control

I would not suggest using remote images. The first reason is speed, and secondly if your broadband is down or the originating site is down - no image will display. Mind you, if the network is down the same problem occurs but then there is no data anyway.

Thanks for the direction.
I'm playing with the Web Browser control and it sure doesn't seem to have the flexibility of the image control (e.g. scroll bars optional, size mode).
It also brings in another reference, which may cause problems because of the wide diversity of computers which the pgm is running on. I know some use firefox, but don't know if the Microsoft Internet Controls reference will always be available.

Simon:
The reason I'm looking to do this across the internet is that the pictures will be just thumbnails (or click for larger image), they aren't mandatory for the pgm to work, each month there will be approx 4,000 images (8,000 counting low and hi resolution) which I don't want the user to have to download and maintain, many of which will never be viewed. My pgm is used by people with varying level of computer competency, so it's just better if I maintain the images. If the internet connection goes down it is a minor annoyance.

thanks,
James
