Hi All

Please help, I am using Dlookup to run my security, but it is os slow.. up two 2 minutes to vaidate! Thanks Mr Gates!!!!

Don't want to use a workgroup, "mdw"

So... How do set up a good multi user security system, with user access levels, and ofcourse locking out happy hackers?

I have a BE and FE split db, do I add the user table to the front end or is there a better way of doing it??

Thanks to all who respond in advance.

Hi Pat

Well, its Access 97. FE and BE split. FE on the Users PC.

A standard table with "ID", "UserName", "Department", "Password" and "AccessLevel". UserName is the primary keyfield.

14 rows (1 per User)

Just a standard DLookup to find password, and accesslevel (as per the help file), when checked, this then opens the main form and gives controls to add / delete buttons and the levels of viewing etc.

It takes 1 minute 17 seconds on average to find this data over the network, but when it is loaded and the main form is open, everything works fine and quick... its just the login that kills the speed and busy mouse clicks from the users that causes the problems.

Can post the dlookup code if that helps??

Cheers Bodvoc
