:D Please forgive me if I seem a bit thick as I am a complete beginner.

I have been set the task of building a data base for my company (why me I don’t know)

Any way I have built it up with not to many problems

But now I have hit a dead end. I am looking to create a search page to look up my records.

The searches I wish to carry out are by address or by purchaser

I would be grateful for any help you can send my way

Attached is the database

If you need any more info just let me know thanks people for your time

Something like this should do it. Create a Module Search and set it to a Swithcboard button where the parameters are Run Code and the Code is Search

You can create variations on this to suit.

Public Function Search()
'
On Error GoTo Search_Err
'
DoCmd.OpenForm "F-Contacts", acNormal, "", "[Address] Like [Enter Address here] & ""*""", , acNormal
'
Search_Exit:
Exit Function

SearchName_Err:
'MsgBox Error$
Resume Search_Exit
End Function

Thanks for your help mate. but like i said before im a real beginner. I cant seem to find a way to make it work. Any other way of helping?

Any Body???

Im really stcuk any body know where i can get some help?

Make a query with the following SQL:

SELECT tblMain.Address, tblMain.Purchaser, tblMain.Plot, tblMain.Bedrooms
FROM tblMain
WHERE (((tblMain.Address) Like "*" & [KeywordForAddress] & "*")) OR (((tblMain.Purchaser) Like "*" & [KeywordForPurchaser] & "*"));

--you may add more fields in the query
--can link a form address in the where clause as follows:
Like "*" & [forms]![FormName]![TextFieldforAddress] & "*"
Like "*" & [forms]![FormName]![TextFieldforPurcheser] & "*"

You could perhaps just insert a button on the form? Click to insert a button, on the following screen after dragging the button to your particular area on you form you can select: 'record navigation', and adjacent to this just click 'find record'.

When this button is clicked on the form a search pop up will appear allowing you search with any given criteria. This is easy enough...but if you get confused with my explaination ask and i'll try again, hopefully a bit clearer?!
