This is an old problem I have had with several db but never got a fix for it but I really need this to work now! I have read many threads on the matter and have tried several fixes but I just can not get it to work so I am attaching a sample file in hopes that someone out there can help me!! I am going crazy!

Problem
I have a main form with two subforms. I need one subform to update its total when the other subform updates with either a new record or deletes a record.
Example: Customer order can have more than one mfg I need a subtotal per mfg and a grand total for the entire job order.

If anyone can help me with this problem I will name my next child by his or her name!!! ;)

Thanks in advance

OK i tried to send an access 2003 attachment and i dont see it does anyone know how to include an attachment with their post?

Right below the post window is another window of additional options with a button "Manage Attachments". Click on that and then click Browse to find your file.

You may want to convert your sample db to a previous version of Access, otherwise only Access 2003 users will be able to view it.

I figured out what I was doing wrong on sending the attachment but i will still have to work on it. I needed to send it as a zip file, however when i did that then it said it was to big a size, they only take 100 and my file size after zipping it is 240 (orig file size was 950). I have alreadly taken out every object i can afford to in the database and it's still to big! I have compress the database in access before zipping it so i dont know what i am going to have to do so that i can send the file.
I have tried to figure out the access problem with requery and refresh and recalculate but nothing works. If i can figure out a way to get the file out to this site is will be back. Thanks

Have you deleted most of the records from the tables? Only a few are usually necessary to make a sample work.

Yes I have, only two records in the db. There were some preformatted backgrounds that I took out and so now the zip file size is 109! I can't believe I still need to delete more stuff so I am working on it. Hopefully I can get it down to 100 today so I can send it out. Thanks for staying with me on this, I appreciate it.

I guess I need a better explanation of what you want this textbox to show. Currently the figure shown in the subform appears to have no relation to the information in the other subform. It's the same amount no matter what.

It sounds like you are wanting 2 totals to show as well.

Please explain exactly how this figure (or figures) need to be calculated based on the information in the other subform.

OK i will try to explain better. For every Job Order there can be many items purchased from more than one Mfg co. so the subform shows the different mfg co and the items related to them. There is a mfg subtotal on each mfg co. in the subform to the right. Then i have another subform bottom left that i want to total all the mfg subtotals per job and give me a grand total per job order. I noticed that when i make a change in the mfg subform the mfg subtotals update automaticly but the Grand Total per job which is in another subform does not update until you go off the record and then come back. Or you close the form and go back in. If you know a better way to do this i would be open to suggestion. Thanks

HOpe this makes since.

Try this:

Open frmsubOrderDetails in design mode. Add an event procedure to After Update with this line:

Forms!frmOrders!frmsubJobTotalAmt2.Requery

THANKS SOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I also added an event procedure so it would work on deleted records.
Ok now I owe you my life, cause I don't plan on having any more kids ;)
Thanks again for all your help.
