Let me preface this question and let you know I am very new to ms access.

I have a db that I use to record deal transactions. Two of the tables are Storage and freight.

I want to create a report that takes the deal number and adds the final fright value to the storage total. But there isn't always storage associated with every deal. and then gives a total deal cost.

What do you think will be the best way to do this?

If the recordsource of the report is a query then you can do the calcuation within the query.

Add this to the query:

Deal Total: Iif ( IsNull(storage), fright value, (fright value + storage))

Replace with your field names: storage, fright value

I am using a query to drive the report, but now my question is how do i add that to the query?

nevermind, i mised the colon before deal total. I figured out how it goes.
