Printer prints reports with maximum dpi resolution

I made a database for personal use (invocing) and every time I print a report, it defaults to maximum dpi even though the printer is set to print with normal quality. So now every time I want to print some report in Access 2007, i have to change the settings in printer properties back to normal otherwise it would take 10 minutes to print one page.

I am not sure why it's doing this because the old database made in Access 2003 prints normally even when opened in Access 2007.

Another odd thing is that when I switch to a different tab in Printer properties and then back to the tab with printing defaults, the maximum dpi changes back to normal quality by itself. I'm not sure if this is some kind of bug.

I tested this database on several computers with Access 2007, using different printers (all of them were HP) and I still get the same problem, it always defaults back to maximum dpi.

Any ideas on how to force the printer to always print with normal quality?

Have you installed SP2 and all the other updates for Office 2007?

I have found that with 2007, if you do not have SP2 installed, there are lots of issues.

Are you setting the desired DPI in the actual printer or in the printing preferences for the printer in Windows?

Found this for you:

Programming Printer Settings in Microsoft Access 2002

This applies to 2002/2003/and 2007. Starting with 2002, there was anew printer object added that allow a lot more printer control from with Access with having to use a Widnows API and mess with the default printer settings.

This may allow you to set the desired DPI with VBA code.

I found this thing with maximum dpi a bit odd since my old 2003 database prints reports with normal quality as it should by default. I only have issue with this new database that I built using 2007 version. I even tried printing on several computers using several different printers and still get the same problem. Everything else prints normal (Word, etc.). Only these Access reports are giving me a headache.

I set printing preferences in Control panel in Windows XP Professional.
