problem when editing record via form

i have a form to edit customer details, my problem is if i edit a record so that it breaks validation / inputmask, then i get my error messages.

is there anyway to prevent these messages from appearing until i click a command button to save the changes?

i have on my form a command button to open a .chm file and another button undo changes and exit form but there is no way i can click these buttons because as soon as the field loses focus i get the error messages.
