Problem with designing layout of Report

I have a problem with designing a report. I have three tables (1-clubs 2-players 3-player history). I need a report to display by club,then group by players assigned to the club ,the players history records.

i.e
club 1 - harchester united (clubs table)

joe bloggs(players table) 12/10/2004 19/10/2004 24/10/2004
fred smith null 19/10/2004 24/10/2004

1 -where null is shown the player did not play. This is where a record in the player history table does not exist for that date and player.
2 -There will be a maximum of 5 colums that will be displayed for played dates.
3 - Each column will have a header of PLAYED

Unfortunatley i can get the played records to display down the page but i need them to display across the page so i can use landscape format.

If i were to ask the user to select a date-range (start & end) when running the report would i need to do this as a query.

Do you mean you want the dates listed in rows and the player names in columns when u say using the page in landscape format?
Have you tried creating a cross table query? This usually does the job and there's a wizard that will help you design it.

Thanks for the advice i have now managed to create a cross table report.

I do have three questions though and i have attached an example of the report

1-Where the digit1 is displayed on the report ,can i get this this to display as a capital P (for played).
2- Moving on from question1 , Can the display of 'P' be set to a specific colour if the another field has a certain value assigned to it.

i.e.
Player1 played in League Cup on 21/11/04. The report should display the 'P' in blue.
Player1 played in League on 28/11/04. the report should display the 'P' in green
Player1 played in Divisional Trophy on 05/12/04 the report should display the 'P' in orange

3 - Where the date are displayed as headers. Is it possible for report to only display dates within a range. Where the user selects 01/12/2004 to 04/01/2005
