Hiya, I'm new here so please forgive me if this is the wrong forum :-)

I am currently making a student record database system for a college project. I designed it in Access XP (Microsoft Office XP) consisting of tables, queries, forms and macros. The basic principle of the project is to have a record of the students with their courses, course tutors and enrolment details displayed in a user-friendly database system where the user can add student records, courses, tutors and so forth.

Now the setting is set here's my problem :-)

As I said I designed the form in Access XP so there are no problem regarding that but when I come to view the project in Access 2000 (what my college has installed) there seems to be a few compatability problems. This is the basic layout of my system:

When the search option box is selected and one of the records is selected (in this case 'Student Details') it should ask two questions (in order for the user to specify a certain search criteria):

Student's surname? (omit for all records)
Student's forename? (omit for all records)

And it does in Access XP, with no problems but when I relocate it onto Access 2000 it brings up the two following requests instead (ruining the whole database questions):

I cannot seem to get it to work whatever I do (tried converting the database into 2000 from XP, into 97 from XP then back into 2000 etc) - the macro is currently set to:

[Surname] Like [Student's surname? (Omit for all records)] & "*" And [Forename] Like [Student's forename? (Omit for all records)] & "*"

But as I said the mystery lies in the fact that there are no problems in XP but 2000 seems to have trouble.

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated, and indeed if someone who feels they could help would like to view the database file it can be found here.

Any help much appreciated ! :-)

Thanks.

The problem is the apostrophe in "Student's". I don't know why it should work in AXP but A2k doesn't like it.
