Problems with Tables linked to another DB

I've created a new database and am linking to tables stored in another database (Which I also created). The link establishes with no errors, but I can't open the table or delete the link after it has been created. I don't get any errors or anything that indicates a problem; but neither Open, Design, or Delete will work on the linked tables. Any ideas on why this might be happening? PS: I had someone else look at the database and they were able to delete the links when I wasn't????
