Hi

I have a curly one here that is driving me in sane. I have a form with a combo box that looks up job numbers and inserts all the relevant information into the text boxes and a subform on the same form, this all works fine. However when I select one particular job number it inserts all the data into the text boxes and subform correctly but when I go down to the subform and click to go to the next record the data disappears and the job number changes to 0 in the table. I can go into the table and change the job number back to 200. When i open the form and select the job number it loads all the data ok but once again as soon as I click next record it deletes the data and changes the job number to 0 AGAIN

Anyone have any ideas why it is doing this.

I cannot imagine, corruption aside, what would be causing a single value for a field that is otherwise behaving to do this!

What Datatype is the errant field?

What version of Access are you using?

I suspect, for this kind of thing, that you're going to have to zip up the file and attach/post it here. Some problems simply require 'hands on' in order to diagnose them.

Attaching a 2003 version or earlier of the file would allow more people to helpyou.

Sounds to me like it is adding a new blank record into the subform. If there is only 1 record in the subform (1 of 1), and then you click next in the subform, you'll be on entering a new record. That's how subforms generally work.

I didn't read the last line of the original post well enough. It does, indeed, sound like Adam has the right idea, here. I suspect that the Job Number is defined as a Number and in the table def has a Default Value of Zero, which is why you're seeing 0 in the new record's Job Number field.
