It's 10:20pm in the UK and my headaches.

I want to set a text box Default value to a field in a table.
The way I would like it to work is :-

= Forms!myform!myfield where Forms!myform!ID = 1

Now I know this does not work and it is probably just sorting out the sytax.

I would like the forum fairies to wave their majic wand and give me the correct way of expressing this when I wake up in the morning.

Taking some asprin now and going to bed.
Nite, nite.

Is this Text Box that needs the default setting on a different form than "myfield"? And is there only one record on that form with ID=1 or is this a bunch of records with different ID's and other info?

Yes.
The text box is on a different form from myfield and there a number of [ID] that will be the default value of textbox1, textbox2 etc.

OK
Let me put this another way
2 forms loaded, myfrm and myfrm2
In myfrm2 I want to return a value into a text box using the text box Default value property.

I tried the following and get the error message “Check the subquery’s syntax and enclose the subquery in parentheses”

SELECT [myfield] FROM Forms![myfrm] WHERE Forms![myfrm]![ID]="1"

Am I close?

Anyone any ideas yet or is this unworkable?

Post your DB and let us tinker with it.
