ps2 keyboard lag when offline

My wifes keyboard (ps2), will lag when offline (when cox is down) from the internet, but is fine when on the net and the cable modem is switched off? have checked with another leyboard and the same thing happens, any ideas????

Ooohh a challenge - you say it's a ps/2 and you've checked with another keyboard but are they both wired.

Sorry a bit confused - by this you don't access the internet via your cable modem ?
