Qs abtout Totalling a column

I have a query that generated a report with 4 columns. I have sorted in my query the second and third coulmn. WHen It gets displayed in the report my output matches expected ouput as per the ordering of values in the column.

But when I try to sum COlumn 4 by using the sum function the sequence of ordering in 2 and 3rd column is not in the ascending although i have not made any changes other than the totals coulmn

What is wrong?

You have to use the Sorting/Grouping option from the report toolbar
