Query Criteria Assistance

I have a query that returns a result like this:

ID Status Date

30001 GFA 06/14/2011
30001 GFA 06/15/2011
30001 GFA 06/16/2011

ID (5 digits), Status (GFA), and Date are three fields.

The three records are identical except for the date. What I need the query to do is to return only one record per ID, selecting the earliest of the available dates.

Each ID number may have only one or multiple dates in the source table.

My gues is this would be done in Design view using criteria in the Date field, but I have no idea how!
