Hi, Big Jim here:

We, including Big Jim, were wondering why our queries run everso much faster when we disconnect the computer from the network, reboot, and rerun our macros.

All we have in the macros are queries located on the hard drive, but the computer moves much much faster. There are links in the database to data on the server, but these links are not used in our queries.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Big Jim

Maybe when you're on the network, someone is accessing data on your HDD and this takes ressources from the machine and slows down your data access time... or maybe ressources are used just maintaining the network connection...

Thanks border!

I agree with the second part, but should this really slow the macro down by upwards of 400%?

We have a macro which used to take us 2 days to run while connected to the network, now we can get it done in 4-5 hours.

Anymore thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,

Big Jim
