Running an Access 97 database.

It has 1000+ records.
Maybe 20+ fields in a single table.

Had an error.
'Operation invalid without a current index"
Updated the Jet engine to 3.5 per MS recommendations.

Still having problem.

Database corrupted.

My questions are:

1) I have heard that Access gets a 'personality' when you hold more than 1000 records. Is this true? Any comments?

2) I have a copy of Access 200(0/2). Can I just import the tables, Create a make table query and port the data to a new table / new db in the 'more stable' environment of 200(0/2)? Or is there a better way to 'save the data'?

3) There are backup files... pre-problem... What if I port that db?

4) Any OTHER suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help?!

Brian,

1,000 records isn't even close to presenting a size or
stability problem for Access.

Have you tried compact/repair?

If your A97 database isn't corrupted, you can convert it
to A2000.

If it's corrupted (and compact/repair doesn't help) the
the Jet Repair utility may be of use. I have never used it.
Someone here will know. You can do a search.

Don't know if I would say that A2000 is more stable than
A97.

Just some thoughts. Wanted to bring this post back into
view so that others see it.

Thanks Wayne...

See...

I can't remember where I heard that... but I know I heard it from someone who was an IT person... altho, from what I have gathered, the IT title doesn't necessarily mean knowledge...

Well thanks...
