Hi guys,

I have already a database functioning how I want it ( which is basically an installations and costings database )

I have now been asked to create a database that can do things like marketing reports, sales costings and advertising tracking etc etc.

The thing is, if the customer orders, at the min we input into the origanal database, and thats it, we have no previous steps.

The question is, would i be best creating a whole new database, which would be able to link to data in the current database, or would I be best to add more tables to the existing database, and have another front end.

The reason I ask this is the fact that I want to be able to cross reference data from both sets of databases etc etc. or just have one master backend !

Any thoughts on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Max

Max, I would consider one .mdb as a back end with all the data and then maybe several different front ends based on the roles of the end users...

Make sense???

Thats what I was thinking

Ken,

Thats kind of what I was thinking, and now I have thought about it a bit more, it would make sense, as This could also tie up reference numbers, on all tables, so that I would always have a unique reference number......

If anyone else has a though, please let me know, as I wont be starting this till friday.

Just need to get planning underway 1st

TIA

Max
