Ranking

I'm putting together a database for use at a Sports day. In a field event, for instance, I can record the distances, then use a query to sort them in descending order, ie in terms of position. I now want to allocate a rank, ie 1 to the person with the longest throw, 2 to the next, etc, and then allocate a number of points to that position. Does Access have an equivalent of Excel's RANK function? Any ideas welcome.
