Hi,

I have an access database that we've been using for sometime now. It has some errors and doesn't work properly. I was going to have a look myself and see if I fix the problem.

The person who created isn't around anymore and I get the Read Design, Read Object Permission message and cannot make the changes.

Is there anyway these can be taken off or do I stop now and create a new database.

Your help in much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Are you able to open the application while holding down the shift key? This method, if it hasn't been disabled will allow the application to open without running the startup code.

Is the database in a directory that you have read and create permissions to? If you do not have permission to create a file (Access creates an .ldb file using your authority) when it opens the database. This is used to manage concurrent access.

Is the database secured with ULS? If so, you will need a userID and password with administrator permissions.
