Hi All, Afraid I am going into uncharted territory here myself, I would like to ask for advise. In my application I need to read a serial port value into a TextBox called TxtWeight, I tried to use one of these programs on the internet but this gives me problems and only one out of every 20 clicks gives me the correct value. Would it be possible to read the com port and display the weight in real time in this text box? I will include a jpg of the hyper terminal print out. The value I need is 14660 or of course any other weight that is in the same position.
So the string needs to be clipped to show the correct weight from the scale.
I search on the internet but always end up with commercial packages like win-wedge etc.. Would this be the way to go or could any one of you point me into a direction that would enable me to do the same without third party translator.
Any help very much appreciated as usual....

Hi RuralGuy, thanks for that, it comes very close to what I have in mind, however there is on problem.... my programming skills, I will look at it and try as learning is part of the process as well, I would easier understand something closer to Access I think.. Never the less... I will try and see if I can make sense of this..

How did you go?

Due to time restriction I had to come up with something quick so I bought one of these keyboard wedges that can write to a file.. It was cheap but it works and reads the scale under a command button. I just installed this on Wednesday, yesterday was ST. Patrick's day, very big here in the village so spent most of my time in and around the pub. When recovered I'll start trying.. :-)

Hi Marinus

Keep in touch. I'm trying to do a similar thing. If I get anywhere I'll let you know.

Cheers

Jase
