i have a form Which display details of students

I want to be able to press a button and a dialog box appears which allows the user to either type in a name or use a cimbo box to select a name and then one they have found the name they can press OK and the details of the recod will apear on the form
and the dialog form will close

Any help

Peter,

Put a new "unbound" combo box on your form. Put a label
by it that says "Select new student".

In the AfterUpdate event, put:

Me.Recordsource = "Select * from YourTable where " & _
"StudentName = '" & Me.YourCombo & "'"
Me.Requery

You'll have to substitute for YourTable, StudentName and
YourCombo.
