I am fairly new at building databases, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to link tblemployees to the form posted below.

I am completely lost, I believe my next step is recordsets?!?!

I have attached three screen shots..

Can you please tell me how to make it so the information from tblemployees will populate in the form.

Please explain as if I was a child.

Thank you

You need to set tblemployees as the Record Source for your Form.

Put your form in design view, now click in the square at the junction between the Vertical and horizontal ruler a small black square should appear indicating that you are dealing with form properties, now click on the Data Tab in the properties window and select tblemployees from the drop down list in the Record Source row.

Thank you soooo much!!!!!!!!

I am sorry to bother you again, I have attached another screen shot. I did as you instructed then added the control source in the unbound text boxes.

It populates with nothing. When I switched to form view in the bottom left hand corner it says "calculating." Prior to these steps I opened tblemployees and added data - it unfortunately did not come up with anything.

When I added in the control source I selected from the drop down bar that now appeared since I made the suggested changes in your previous post.

Do you have any ideas where I have gone wrong?

Could you perhaps anonymise your data and zip and post a copy of your DB.

Use the paper clip at the top of the posting window to upload your DB.

Hi,

Here is a zipped copy.

Thank you in advanced for your great help.

The problem is that the Form's Data Entry property is set to Yes. With this property set to Yes when the form opens it will only allow you to enter new records, it will not let you view existing records, so set Data Entry to No and you should be in business.

You can of course test the OpenArgs property in the On Load event of the form and set the Data Entry property accordingly, if you so wish.
