Hi need some help with barcodes and recording time into table against an existing record.

I have a visitor label that I am producing a barcode on the printed label the bar code is made up of the ID, Last Name and Company Name fields.

What I need to do is scan the barcode on the label and for it to be recorded in the Time Out field against the existing record.

Thanks Rob

Two ways in general: an update query using the ID as a criteria or opening a recordset on an SQL statement with a similar criteria, and using the Edit method.

Ok a bit more detail on the update query would be nice

Here's an example:

Code:
  CurrentDb.Execute "UPDATE DriverSched SET Permit_to_Drive = " & Me.chkPermit _
                  & " WHERE Driver = '" & Me.driver & "'"

This worked a treat just need to get the correct font now

Glad it worked.

No doubt I'll be asking more questions my learning on Access Database is years out of date and was mostly self taught as there was no where to go and be trained when I was doing my learning I am talking about Commodore 64 days and XT's.

No problem. If a question is on a different topic, it should be a new thread in the appropriate forum. They like to limit threads to a single topic; makes it easier when searching for answers.
