Presumably, your intended use of Tamil requires the use of one or more tamil fonts. Look at http://tamil.net/tscii/ (I found it on a Google search!).

So, just change the font property of your tamil control(s) on your form(s) to use this font, and ensure that EVERY user has this font installed in Windows.

Just leave your 'English' controls alone, since that is the default alphabet for MsAccess.

I am unsure how you 'type' using this font, but I bet that there's a keyboard overlay available.
EDIT: There's a link on the link above to some keyboard drivers.

Ditto for your reports.

Check the Help menu in MS Access for the following:

Enable editing of multiple languages in Office programs

Also Check this regarding INDIC language support
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/access/HP010366351033.aspx

...In order to enable the Indic language features in Office, you must be running a 32-bit Microsoft Windows operating system that has Indic language support...

My personal observation is that the computer has to be able to handle both and switch between both and the FONT selected for the Table has to be comprised of Both the foreign characters and English Alphabet. Then as far as Access is concerned it just a string of codes, some that indicate foreign characters in the Font and others that indicate English Alphabet in the same Font.

For Example: HonMinCho is a Japanese (2-bit)font which comprises all 1850 or so Japanese characters used in standard Japanese Newspapers as well as the 56 Character HIRAGANA, 56 Character KATAKANA, All English Upper/Lowercase and standard symbols and numbers. The keyboard combinations entered comprise the codes that point to the display characters.

If your font handles both language representation then you should be able to determine which fields contain which codes by your input method.

I'll give this a go when I get home tonight and let you kow the result. Interesting that I've not attempted to use this concept in Access yet, but I did use it with FileMakerPro running on a Mac PowerPC with the required Language Pack. All I did was switch between Input Methods. Let's hope that's how easy it will be with Access.

Cheers!

Sorry, I recently switched CPUs and the one I'm using now won't let me set up the foreign language until I can find my WindowsXP Pro disk...which is under something somewhere instead of in the Box it came in.. sorry for the delay

thank you

language problem solved by your guidence.
i got free ware from 'Azhagi' it is a tamil unicode tool and it act as a switch between english and tamil, it supports to all windows based applications like word ,excel etc.. before that i set the language settings as you told.

i think i reached half of the problem.

can you give me the script (syntax) and place to written it in a form in ms access 2003.

1. Text box1 should be displayed the value of field1 from table randomly, when I click the command button1.

2. Text box2 should be displayed the value of field 2 of the same record, when I click the command button 2.
