Hi,

I have a file which is connected to an Access database. I did not put a password on it. However, when I refresh the Pivot Table (connected to Access database). It prompts me for a user name and password.

How can I refresh the table without a password? Thanks!

Is the database on a backend server? If so, did the administrator put a password on that particular system? Because if there is a BE on a server, it is POSSIBLE that it is Windows O/S that is asking for the password. You should be able to tell from the dialog box who or what is asking.

it's a very simple database that only i use. I linked it to excel by selecting the accdb file in Excel's data tab.

Is it a BE situation on a remote machine or is it a local file on your own machine?

I seem to recall a similar problem that was caused by the new encryption. But encryption requires setting a password.

Try setting a password with 'Use Legacy Encryption' option set

File / Options / Client Settings / Use Legacy Encryption

Then remove the password again.

The other possibility is file corruption, which merits at least an attempt at a Compact & Repair.

If the Excel file you open is linked to an Access file then can you directly open the Access file to Compact & Repair it? If so, then try to rebuild the link.
