I am trying to add some files to a table using an append query. It is telling me that I am unable to append 64 records because of validation rule violations. I checked both tables to see if they had the same conversion types. The 64 records are what I am trying to add to the table.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated because I do not know how I can change the validation rules. I guess that I can go in and copy the table to Excel and add the 64 and then import that, but my boss wants me to be able to append.

You should get an error table created if there is a type conversion error. Most common reason I have seen is a text field is set to not allow zero length text, and input file has empty text.

Check your primary keys and other indices where values are required. You may be attempting to insert a duplicate value, whick Access will not allow you to do. Import to a new table and then create a query comparing the two. Are there 64 matches? Another thing that it might be, is blank rows at the bottom of the Excel spreadsheet. I get the same error a lot when the folks who prepare files for me do not clean them up. Just go to the bottom of your spreadsheet, select about 1,000 rows, then select Edit, Delete .... Do not just hit the delete key, it is not the same.
