I am very new at Access. I am just starting a very complicated system for my employer. I have a little knowledge but not much in coding. I have read some of the posts of the past but everyone's tables are different. The first thing i need is a mentor. I wish there was a little friend on my shoulder. Anyway here are the first tables I have created. The address table will be used for other tables later and so will the dependent table. I need to know if I am on the right track first. I have relationships set up to connect on the pk numbers. I thought I should first make sure the stucture of the tables are ok before I try anything else. I don't have a zipper or else I would have zipped it and attached it. I appreciate any help.

I am not sure that I can sort out your tables and relationships but I can tell you that you can find a handy and free zip program here. There are a number of free zip programs available but I like this onethe best of those that I have tried. Now you can zip your program and post it!

hth,
Jack

got the zip

Thanks for the site. I am going to try to post an attachment

trying to post attachment

I will try again:confused: i guess i know not what i do!!!! I tried to attach and can't seem to get it to work

trying to post

i zipped the database and saved it. Then when I pushed the browse button and found the file on my desktop. When I click it it show the path to the file but it after that i know not what happens. Am I not doing this right? is the answer somewhere on the forum? The file is a zip file

Hmmm. The Attach File and browse thing should do the trick. Is the zip file bigger than 100,000K? If so that may be the problem. Be sure and Compact the db before you zip it up to be sure that it is as small as it can be. Give it one more try and if that doesn't work let me know....

here we go again

Boy you can tell i'm new. I am breaking up the databases to make smaller files and then attaching. If this works here is the first one

I am getting

I can't get it to work. My relationships are as follows:

ADDRESS_T-Address_ID-->DEPENDENT_T-Address_ID

DEPENDENT_T-Childrens_Theatre_ID-->CHILDRENS_THEATRE_T-Childrens_Theatre_ID

CHILDRENS_THEATRE_T-Childrens_Theatre_ID-->STUDENT_T-Childrens_Theatre_ID

STUDENT_T-Payment_For_Class_ID-->PAYMENT-T-Payment_For_Class_ID

STUDENT_T-Class_ID-->CLASS_T-Class_ID
STUDENT_T-Yag_ID-->YAG_T-Yag_ID

I know i have got some extra id numbers in some of the tables but i am afraid to let them go just yet.

as far as the attachments go maybe it's the form and queries i have set up in the databases. I have tried deleting all the things i don't need and it is still to big i guess. But if i dont give all the tables none of it would make sense.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Been one of those days... Send the db to jpcowley@aaahawk.com. No guarantee that I will know any more about it than you do, but I will take a look and let you know what I think.
