I have some queries that I would like to rename. I used to be able to right-click on them in the Navigation pane and use the "rename" option. However, now, after I right click, the name of whatever the query (or report) that I am right clicking changes to solid and won't allow me to edit! Any ideas?
Thank you!

Is the db READ-ONLY?
is the query open, you cant rename if it is in design mode.
do you have rights in the db rules to rename?
otherwise it should rename.

No, it is not read-only, the query is not open, I have full rights, and it USED to work! I've had a couple of fluke things happen with Access, and this is one of them!

Just a guess, but try holding down Shift as you open the database.

Which version of Access are you running and is the query you wanted to rename also the named recordsource or rowsource on a form or report? You can use the Database Tools >> Object Dependencies to see if something depends on your query. I am not sure about this, but some versions of Access either won't let you rename something for which there is a dependency, perhaps based on whether other features of the database are enabled. I don't have this problem myself so can't test it.

May or may not work, instead of right clicking, try single left click and then press the F2 function key. If on a laptop, may have to hold down the FN key as well depending on how your keyboard is mapped.
