Replication vs Shared Folder

I made a database for all my supervisors and managers (roughly 15 people). Database is placed in a shared network folder from my drive.

I recently spoke to someone about using a replication. He said it best for me to use the replication instead of shared network folder because I have high number of people using the database.

What the difference between using the replication or shared network folder(Advantages or disadvantages)?

Any suggestion?

I would say that unless you have an unacceptable performance hit when a lot of users are signed in, stay with what you have...

The only bad thing about my network folder is that I can only have 7 people on at the same time. Which is not a problem since I can boot them off if other people need to use the database.

I thought the whole point of using a replication is having unlimited amount of people on at the same time.

I think the original point was to allow a user 'take' a copy of the db offsite, work in it, then at some point sync the data up with a master. But you may be correct. Anyway, seems it would be easier change the number of concurrent users to more than 7...

So far our network share folder isn't upgraded yet. "Some company can be cheap", but till than they have work with 7 people on at the same time.

Is that better than using append query? I have some people taking the database home. They email me the copy and I just use the start date & end date to import the records from their copy Database to our Database.
