Hello guys, Im new to access and obviously having a rough time :) Basically what im trying to accomplish here Is a report that can use a form as a parameter to pull a query of dates.

I've created, Form, Report, Query

However, I am unable to make the query open up the form to gather the parameters

In criteria field for Date Range I put the following using the build wizard, and i am prompted with a Box for Paremeter value not the form.. Is there something special i have to do to get this to work?

Between [Forms]![Dates]![in_StartDate] And [Forms]![Dates]![in_EndDate]

Thanks,

Josh

What is the exact message of the box that comes up?

Thanks for replying..

Forms!Dates!in_StartDate .. comes up in the parameter box

So, is your text box really named in_StartDate with the underscore?

Or is it

in StartDate

What is the actual name?

in_StartDate... Something wrong with the naming convention?

ok I made a new form.. went through the builder and below is what i have now.. Nothing pops up just comes to runs basically a blank query

Between [Forms]![Form1]![StartDate] And [Forms]![Form1]![EndDate]

So post the SQL to your query (if you aren't sure how, go to the query in design view and then to VIEW and SQL View and then copy and paste that here). Is there data in there for the selected range? What range are you selecting? Does your date field have a time element included?

SQL Data . . . So not confused im trying to query the data between 2 start dates...

SELECT [Daily Tracking Issues].Status, [Daily Tracking Issues].[GWIM Severity], [Daily Tracking Issues].MGMTSum, [Daily Tracking Issues].[Issue Tracked], [Daily Tracking Issues].[Start Date], [Daily Tracking Issues].[End Date]
FROM [Daily Tracking Issues]
WHERE ((([Daily Tracking Issues].[Start Date]) Between [Forms]![Form1]![StartDate] And [Forms]![Form1]![EndDate]));

See if change this:

Between [Forms]![Form1]![StartDate] And [Forms]![Form1]![EndDate]

to this

Between Format([Forms]![Form1]![StartDate], "\#mm\/dd\/yyyy\#) And Format([Forms]![Form1]![EndDate], "\#mm\/dd\/yyyy\#)

will help

tried to copy and paste getting popup The expression you entered has an invalid date value.

By the way i appreciate all your help with this

What is the specific value you are entering into those text boxes?

Appears the database was too big to upload.. No Data, I can't get the form to come up when i hit the ! button to run the query..

I assume that a with this setup a form should pop up

The form doesn't just pop up. You open the form and then you open the query from that date parameters form. Or you can open the form, put in the criteria and then open the query from another form as long as the criteria one remains open.

omg dude.. I've been messing with this for DAYS!!! Thanks for your help.. It now pulls to the report

Glad you got it. It can be a real pain trying to troubleshoot, I know that.
