Hi

I have an access 2000 database with split back end / front end. Each user has an mde file, which sits locally on their pc, my pc has Access 2003. I currently have aroung 25 users

I have 5 pcs (at last count..!) - two with Access 2003 and three with Access 2000 - these 5 pcs cannot view any reports.
When I try and run them, they run fine.

Can anyone please help me!

Thanks

Georgina

Are the PC's that are experiencing the problem, working otherwise OK within the database? My thought here is that somehow the 'mapping' to the data file has got corrupted, or users have changed a network drive, that should point to f:\clientdatabase\h_dat.mdb, but the drive map has been changed to G: for example. I have had this before.

What are the operating systems of the PCs you are running, are the 5 with problems running older OS's?

Have you tried copying a new MDE across to the PCs?

re:

Hi,
check the machines which do not run reports for default printer drivers. Are any installed...if yes make sure they are not corrupt. Access needs a default printer driver to render/create the reports...if it doesn't exist or is corrupt you might experience this behavior.

Good luck

Hello to you both and thanks for your replies.

The users pc's don't have a mapped network drive to the server where the database is stored. I have a pc without a mapped drive working fine (!). The pcs all run either XP or 2000. I've copied the mde but no success.

Freakazeud - is a default printer the same as a default printer driver ? - They all have printers installed, but I'm not sure if this is the same thing?

Thanks again for your help

A default printer is where you have specified that the pc uses a particular printer. (Start, Settings Printers) In this folder you may have any number of networked printers displayed and one should be selected as the default for that pc, assuming you are on a network.

A printer driver is the software associated with a printer, provided by the manufacturer and without which it won't work. Ergo - if you have a printer selected as the default printer on your pc you would, as a rule, have the driver already installed. Try checking each pc to ensure there is a default printer selected.
