This is weird. I have Access XP. I went to try and create a report today and as soon as I try to open a blank report it comes back and tells me

"Microsoft Access can't save design changes or save to a new database object because another user has the file open. To save design changes or to save a new object you must have the exclusive access to the file"

Now this DB is on my network drive and it is not shared. I checked the properties and only admin, backup and myself have access to it.

I can create a new querie just not a report (like i said, weird)

I copied the DB to my local C drive and have no problems at all. I went back out to my network drive and renamed the DB but the exact same problems happen. Help!

There may be an .ldb file hanging around. If you close your db and you are sure no one else has it open and you see an .ldb file in the network directory where the .mdb file lives, delete it. If you cannot delete the .ldb file, you may need to have your network people reboot the server.

Thanks, next time I will try that as of course its working today. Its really random when this happens.
