Hi All,

I'm in desperate need of help as I've got myself stuck and can't see my way out for trying.

I'm got this table in a db which tracks whether some training is due for a given person. In the table there are four columns; name & course (both as text), then "outstanding" and "refresher" - both of these as Yes/No responses.

The idea is a line will be taken up by each name and their assignment to a course. The Yes/No columns then track whether they need to still taken the course (Outstanding) or need a refresh of the course (Refresher).

This means each line can be one of "outstanding" & "Refresher" ticked "yes" or both are "No".

I trying to get to an end stage of having a report that lists all the outstanding courses with name and all the refresher courses, but I've been looking at it all day and come up with a complete mental block.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

I've attached a mock file, table layout pic to assist, together with an image of how the final report should look (I can do the layout editing; just not how to get there in the first place)

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You data structure is wrong because it is possible to store both as Yes, contrary to the business rules.

Change it to a single field with a code that indicates the allowed states of what you are currently storing in two fields.

Thanks for the reply and sorry about the delay - I've moved so was without internet for a while. Your suggestion worked.
