Hello: I have a report that produces a new page, printing
member contributions, with totals on the correct
footer section of the report.

So far so good. . . . but . . . it is desireable to have the total
contribution total for individual members in the member
header section with their address information. I have created
a parameter query, that when I supply the member number
manually, works correctly. BUT, when I try to use the member
number generated on the report header, alas . . . the query
comes back blank.

Anyone have any ideas about how to use output generated
on a report for input to a query?

Thanx in advance . . . . Ray . . . .

Presumably you are using a hierarchical system of storing contributions and the report groups by the members id, right?

If so you should be able to use an unbound field in the report header suchas:

=Sum([ContributionField])

Using the wizard to build a report you will find a button in the wizard for 'summary options', look into that, it may have the answers you need, which you can then copy onto your report, if you wish to retain the formatting of the already existing report

Yes, but, that does not seem to work.

I also tried creating a query, then, passing a persons
ID as a parameter, but, that did not work either.

How about a subform?

Let's start again, you have a 2 tables...

1.Header Info

MemberID(PK)
Name
Address
etc..

2.ContributionsTable
ContID(PK)
MemberID(FK)
Date
Amount
Type

If you have these two joined in a relationship, you can build a query with these fields:

MemberID(PK)
Name
Address
Date
Amount
Type

If you build a report using the wizard off this query, you will be able to group by Member ID and select summary options to total the amount over the group.

If this is not your structure, then I believe this is your problem, otherwise tell me more.

Is the field present on the report?
Is it a currency/number field?

Ok.

Grouping by MemberID:

MemberID Header - Member Address & name

Gouping by Contribution date record:
No header or footers.
Detail - Amount of contribution and contribution
accounts given into.

MemberID Footer - Total contribution for member ; Currency

What I want is to calc the total contribution on the MemberID
footer, and put it on the MemberID Header. Of course, the
header print occurs before the footer, hence my problem.

I thought I'd create a query, then run it from the header, but,
that does not seem to work.
