Hi! I do not know whether this is appropriate for this forum, however somebody may be able to help, so here goes.
I'm using Access 2010 under Win 7.
I have not had this problem in the past but when I tried to produce a report with the report wizard, everything was OK till I got to check the finish tab. On clicking finish I get the message "application-defined or object-defined error".
If anybody can help me I would be gratefully appreciative.

Never seen that happen. I suspect you'll need to post more specific details about what you were trying to put on the report for us to have any idea of the cause.

Thanks for your reply. I've been trying all sorts of ways to eradicate this error to no avail. My most recent effort was to repair Microsoft Office.

My platform is Windows 7 Ultimate. I am using office 2010 Professional.

I've created a new database, very simple, in the hope that it would work, but no.

This new database contains one table only with three fields;
Member ID (Autonumber)
MemberFirstName (Text)
MemberLastName (Text)

When I open the report wizard and go through the process, everything goes well until I get to the stage of clicking on the FINISH button. When I do so, I get the message "Application-defined or object-defined error" and when I click on OK the window closes without saving the report.

I should add that I have not had this happen in the past; it just seems to have crept in.

Any help would be appreciated>

I had the same problem for years ago in MS-Access 2000, I had to do a MS-Access repair, (so far I remember).

For it not to work in such a simple case my first guess would indeed be something fundamentally wrong with Access, especially if it just started happening randomly.

If the repair didn't solve it as it did for JHB then perhaps a complete uninstall and reinstall would get it back up and running.

One other possible cause that comes to mind could be a 'reference' issue. In the VBA editor under the 'Tools' menu you can edit the References used by Access, which defines the built-in libraries of functions it can use. It is possible that the error you are getting is because its looking for some built-in feature while making the report but it isn't there. The References menu will give you a big list of libraries, so perhaps make sure all the ones that look related to MS Access have been selected to load.

Other than all that, sounds like it could be an issue to take an actual Microsoft Tech Support forum, you might have found a bug!

Firstly, thanks to OldManDevin and JHB for your replies to my post.
I have tried a repair to Office Pro but did not resolve the problem. I then Uninstalled and reinstalled Office Pro. Unfortunately, the problem persists.
To me this would indicate that the problem may be somewhere else other than in Office Pro; perhaps in the Windows installation itself.
Any thoughts?

Make a small sample database and post it only to see if we could create a report in it using the wizard.

Thanks JHB. I have attached a simple database called trial.

I have no problem creating a report using the wizard in the attached database.
In the moment I've no ideas what could cause your problem.
What about the other wizards, (ex. form wizard), do they work?

Thanks JHB.
It would appear that the DB is OK since the report wizard worked for you.
I have again uninstalled and re-installed Office Pro and tried again but still have the same problem.
I get the same result when using the Form Wizard also.
It seems that, as a last resort, I may have to reformat my hard disk and start from scratch again.

Take a depth breath before you do that, please read the link I attached there are people there have same problem as you have. Try also to Google with the words "ms access wizard not working"
http://www.utteraccess.com/forum/Wizards-working-t1799035.html
To reformat a hard disk and start from scratch again can be a heavy work and really time consuming, (days depending how you computer is set up), it is the absolute last opinion.

Indeed I agree that a hard drive reformat would be a serious step that may not even help, so that should be absolute last resort!

Did you find anything to help you elsewhere yet?
