Report won't function HELP

I use Access 2000. I have a simple database. I have a query for commissions. It works fine. I use a "between" 1st date "and" last date criteria in the date field that does not show up on the report. It has worked fine for 1 1/2 years. aAs of today the report will not return if I use 05/01/00 and 05/XX/00. I get the expression may be too complex error message. It will work if I use 04/01/00 and 04/30/00 or anyother combo prior to 05/01/00.
I tried rewriting the report and it now asks for a field that is not part of the query at all? I'm confused.

Do a compact and repair on your database and see if this helps.

Thanks Carol, but I do them everyday after I complete inputing new data. It's has become continuing part of my daily routine. It did not fix anything. I wonder if there is a bug in the program. If I try to pull the report after or on 5/1/00 the problem occurs. Any report with earlier dates work fine? I'm stuck on what to do next. I copied the query renamed the new one base the report on the new one even wrote a new report all with the same result.
