URGENTTT !

Hi All , how do i reset the auto number field in database if my database is linked to SharePoint List?

Please help

Thanks

Convert the SP list to a local table.
Delete to PK (Autonumber) field.
Compact and Repair the DB.
Add the PK (Autonumber) field to the table
Export the table to SP
Re-link the SP list

Nice! Bless me Father and blessed Them that persecute me!

Note that if you had ANY LINKS AT ALL to the autonumber field, you broke all of the links when you erased and then renumbered the field.

Further, this kind of treatment USUALLY means you are using the autonumbered field for a purpose inappropriate to that kind of field. An autonumbered PK is supposed to be unique and generally increasing but there is NO GUARANTEE of monotonic increases. There can be gaps. If you can't handle the gaps, you should not be using autonumbers.

Possum dicere Latinam linguam.

And I'm not even Catholic!

Alter boy in another lifetime. I actually heard Father Holloway issue those words to someone in the hospital. Always thought it strange that a mortal man had that kind of power...

Only one I remember normally applies when finishing a good drink (especially coffee)...

i nomine patri et fili spiritus sancti

Mark, that is "IN nomine patri et fili et speritus sancti" I believe.

Mr. Hein (my H.S. Latin teacher) would be so proud of me.

@ Doc,

Latin is not my strong suite. Mein Deutsch besser ist.

Ja, ich kann Deutch sprechen aber nicht sehr gut. Ich nicht genug Worte haben.

Ich kann sie verstehen als sie langsammer sprechen.
