result set shows a * as last record

On one of my queries, the dataset is shown with a * as the last record.
There's nothing in it apart from blank data but it is appearing on my forms.
All my other queries do not seem to have this.

Is there a setting to stop these from appearing ?

That line allows you to add a new record. Simply set Allow Additions on your form to No and that line should not appear.
