Return latest instance of a training course.

I have a simple query that feeds a report. This query returns a list of employees that have taken a given training course. The information is Employee Name, date completed ect..

For example I can generate a report for all employees that have completed Safety Training 101. The report will have the course information at the top of the report, listing all of the employees in the body.. If an employee has taken this course in the past all of the instances will be listed.

What I am looking for is the ability to only display the latest instance of the
course… Not looking for a history just the most recent…

You need an aggregate query. In design view of your query click the Sigma/Summation sign in the ribbon. Beneath each field a new row will appear which will say 'Group By', change the one underneath the date completed field to Max then run your query.
