I have a form, with a combo box that picks up a list of projects. The user choose a project from the list, then clicks the button next to it to go a 2nd form showing all of that project's details. (The deal with using a button is so the user has a chance to change their chosen project before being switched across to the 2nd form).

At the moment, when you open the database the combo box shows a blank. This is good. Once you've chosen a project, it shows that project until another one is chosen.

I would ideally like the combo box to go back to being blank after the button is clicked; or even when I go from design view back to form view.

put an event on the click. Like this:

me.comboboxname = NULL

or even when I go from design view back to form view.

you can't really do this. switching from form design view to form view is almost the exact same thing as loading the form completely again. Thus the "load" event fires if you have one everytime you do these kind of switches.
