I need to import four tables from Excel. Each has 52 fields. There are between 5,000 and 20,000 records in each. I need to make one table of them, but with all of the fields. An append query wants to cut corners and offers only two fields. Is there a way for we humans to be in charge and insist on all fields, do any humans out there know, please?

Not sure what you mean by cutting corners.

Link the files so that you have 4 tables

use the first table as a maketable query

Apend the remaining 3 to the first one. So long as the field names are the same then there will be no problems otherwise you will have to go through the design grid changing the 'append to' bit to the correct field names.

PS Do not use wizards for this as is not necessary. Open a new query, select the first table, move all the fields into the design grid then change the query to make table. Do the same for the append queries and it ought to work.

Thanks, Harry. Yes, I see what you mean. I will give it a try. (No, I seldom use wizards, and don't think I ever have for queries.) Very grateful for the advice.
