rounding errors

I'm pretty new at Acesss so this should hopefully be an easy question. I've written and update query and am having problems with basic division. When I go back to the table it rounds the answer to the nearest whole number, but I need to get the actual decimal places. I've tried looking in help and adjusting the decimal places in the table's field properties, but that is just returning a really long whole number. Any suggestions??

Change the field to single or double not integer

And if it WAS a single or double, then check the format of the number and the decimal places to make sure you haven't selected an integer format or zero decimals.
